Just because Valentine’s Day is over doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate love! Sometimes it’s better to celebrate after Valentine’s Day because then there are less crowds and things like that big box of chocolate and cute teddy bear start to go on sale! Even if you already celebrated V-Day or just want to take a break from studying, here are a mix of new romance and comedy movies to go check out in the spirit of love!

1. That Awkward Moment

A romantic comedy starring Zac Efron as one part of a trio of best friends who make a pact to maintain single status after one of them ends up heartbroken by a recent breakup.

2. Labor Day

Adele (Kate Winslet) is a struggling single mother to her thirteen year old son, Henry. On a back-to-school shopping trip, the two bump into escaped convict Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin), who convinces them to take him in. Romance can only follow, right?

3. About Last Night

A “modern reimagining” of the 1986 classic rom-com. This version follows the new love for two couples as they progress in their relationships, starring Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, and Michael Ealy.

4. Endless Love

Jade Butterfield (Gabriella Wilde) is the pretty and privileged teen who falls for David Elliot (Alex Pettyfer), a troubled working-class boy, after high school graduation. Both the teen’s parents disapprove of their love, which only makes them want to pursue it more.

So get going to the movies with that special someone or even with some friends!

Did you already see one of these films? What did you think?

7 Reasons Why Cats Are The Best Valentines

Who says you need a date this Valentine’s Day? The best date you could have is your cat!

No, seriously! Here’s why:

1. They’re Soft

Sure, boyfriends can grow beards. But those are scratchy. Cats are much softer and less apt to complain about hands on their face.

2. You Don’t Have To Share Your Chocolate

No need to grudgingly offer a spoon of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked to the significant other. You can eat the whole carton by yourself (without another person there to judge you). And your cat won’t say one word.

3. They Won’t Get Jealous

They won’t mind if you want to go out with your friends on Valentine’s Day. In fact, they’ll probably enjoy the chance to catch up on their kitty beauty sleep.

4. There’s No Awkward Moment

At the end of the night, you won’t have to decide who pays the bill. Um, but don’t bring your cat to a restaurant… that could get really awkward, really fast.

5. You Can Stay In

In fact, you don’t have to go out at all. Cats are more than fine staying at home and watching movies all night.

6. No Dressing Up

They don’t care what you look like. Sure, every well-meaning boyfriend tells us we look better in “sweat pants, chillin’ with no makeup on” (or maybe that’s just Drake), but cats? They really don’t care.

7. Tons Of Cuddles

They are always there to cuddle at the end of the day and offer a supportive purr to all of your troubles.

So… what’s not to love? Cuddle up to your cat this Valentine’s Day. They are much better dates.

Dogs will suffice too! ;)

Think you have to be rich to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Wrong. Valentine’s Day, like other holidays, doesn’t have to break the bank. No matter what your budget is, there are always ways to celebrate. The big day is only one week away, so if you don’t have something planned, I have a few inexpensive suggestions for you.

1. Cook Dinner

You can surprise him/her with a homemade dinner, or make it a duo activity and pick out your meal together, go shopping to get the ingredients, and spend some kitchen time together while your favorite music plays in the background. Or, maybe one of you will focus on the meal while the other focuses on the dessert. Don’t forget to light the candles for the mood!

2. Have A Picnic

You can still have a picnic even if it’s cold outside. Just bundle up with some scarves and mittens, bring a cozy blanket, and find a spot in a park or beside a lake. Snack on fruit, cheese, crackers, and of course, chocolate. When it gets too cold for comfort, head back home and warm up inside with some cocoa!

3. Enjoy The Waves

Pick up some dessert and enjoy it by the beach as the waves crash in. Be sure to get there before sunset for a romantic view. End it with a stroll in the sand.

4. Rent A Hot Tub

In some towns, you can rent a private hot tub by the hour for pretty affordable prices. Grab your bathing suits and some towels and spend the night relaxing in hot water. Afterward, grab drinks or a late dinner.

5. Go Out

Downtown or near campus there are always places with fun events like dancing, karaoke, ice-skating or other holiday-themed events. Check your local paper or Craigslist – you’re bound to find something!

6. Try Something New

Get takeout at that new restaurant you always drive or walk by, rent a couple new movies, take it all back to your place and veg out. Afterward, venture out for dessert or create something on your own with what you already have in the cupboards. Anything new is bound to be exciting and make for a memorable night.

Oh, you want me to pay $45 for flowers that cost only $20 yesterday? Yep, it sounds like it’s Valentine’s Day!

We all know that the prices of the typical v-day gifts such as roses and chocolates double or even triple the week of February 14th, and yet some of us still go out and pay these crazy prices. Well I’ll give you some do-it-yourself gifts ideas that are not only much more sensible in terms of price but are also a lot more thoughtful than any store-bought gift.

1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

You could find about a dozen of these at most stores for about $30 (if not more), but honestly it’s just strawberries dipped in chocolate. You could make more than a dozen of these just from getting strawberries and a chocolate bar. Wash the strawberries first and break up the chocolate bar into a small pot filled with a little bit of hot water. The chocolate will melt nicely and become perfect for dipping the strawberries into. Place the chocolate-dipped strawberries on to a baking sheet and then place them into the fridge to harden. Get creative and use other fruits to do this with – such as apples or bananas. This delicious treat is fun and romantic to share with your Valentine.

2. Scrapbook

All you need is some scrap booking paper (or even just colored card stock), some ribbon to tie the pages together, and photos of you and your Valentine. This can be a very thoughtful and creative gift to add that sentimental and personal value needed on Valentine’s Day to put a smile on your partner’s face.

3. Heart-Shaped Food

Making a meal for someone can be so gratifying – especially if they are someone special. Make your Valentine some morning pancakes, afternoon sandwiches, or dessert cookies. Whatever you make – shape them into cute hearts! You could use a heart-shaped cookie cutter or free-hand. It’s a simple idea that’s great for your budget and one sweet gift!

Put your own special touch to any of these ideas and I assure you that your Valentine will be just as happy (if not more so) with a home-made gift made with love.

Enjoy and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Has cupid’s arrow struck you this Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry if you still don’t have any plans or if you are short on cash (like most of us college students). I have five ideas that you can pull off last minute for the special day and also not go broke for!

1. Cook Dinner Together

Think of a meal to make together, buy the ingredients together, then go back and cook it together. Not only will the process be fun, but you can both enjoy a nice dinner afterwards with some added candle light and a single red rose as the center piece. Add a little soft music to set the mood and share some strawberries topped with chocolate for dessert.

2. A Night Walk

Take a walk together holding hands to a place that is special for both of you. Shut your phones off and give each other full attention! Walk and share stories with each other you have never told before. Reflect on memories you have already made together. And gaze at the stars and bring a mug of hot cocoa to share under the moon.

3. Secret Surprises

Special surprises are always good. Slide a love note under their door, leave a balloon tied to the knob, and a flower in front or taped to their door. Either do this before they wake up for them to start their day, or for them to come home to as a special way to end the night.

4. Day Trip

Get in the car and go! Go to a city you have never been and just explore. Site see and spend the day being adventurous. Randomly stop at different places and find things to do to keep you busy. Make sure to take photos and have the perfect playlist for the ride!

5. Friends

Valentine’s Day is not JUST about couples. It’s about for those you love – that includes friends too! Whether you are single or in a relationship, get with your significant other and your friends and do something together! Go ice skating, bowling, go see a movie, whatever it is – just spend time together. Share some food, conversation, and laughs.
