April showers bring May flowers, but the dreariness doesn’t have to apply to your wardrobe, too. Spring is here, and with each new season comes new trends. You may be fine sticking with your normal t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops or Chucks, but just in case you want to switch things up a bit, here are a few spring trends I dare you to try!
For the ladies:
On the runway, Dior is showing off its collection and love of nude pleats, black pleats… pleats in every color! When the weather is nice, break out a pleated skirt and match it with some cute flats or to hit the town in style and dress it up with heels.
This spring is all about the electricity color can bring. Pair some bright orange skinny jeans with a simple top, or grab a pair of hot pink heels. Not comfortable with so much color? Grab some neon-colored bracelets.
Lacey tank tops, lacey skirts, lacey bathing suits…the choice is yours! Play up your femininity with something flirty and watch the heads turn.
Designers like Roberto Cavalli and Gucci are showing their jazz age spirit on the runways with drop-waist dresses and deco detailing. A little fringe never hurt anyone, right? If you’re going out this weekend, this is your go-to style. Take a break from the short miniskirts and take a hint from the 20’s.
Ralph Lauren and Rachel Zoe know what they’re doing. Instead of wearing barely-there jean shorts (a la Daisy Duke), try a summer suit: dressed up pin-lined shorts with a nice, crisp blazer. You’ll look casual, yet sophisticated and put together.
For the men:
Guys, just in case you’ve been living under a rock the last century, women love guys in leather (must have something to do with the bad boy image, go figure). The awesome thing about leather jackets is that they work with jeans, dress pants, suits, whatever! Faux or real, no one will care and you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank. Nordstrom offers them, as well as Guess.
From what I’ve heard, these bad boys are worth the money. Celebs like Peter Facinelli and Zac Efron have been spotted wearing these comfy kickers out and about and it’s no wonder. They’re quick to put on and they’re a simple accessory that goes a long way toward making you a classic. Gucci, Ugg, and Zappos.com all over moccasins in a variety of styles and prices.
Khakis and Cargos
Both must haves, khakis and cargos offer comfort and versatility. Grab a pair of these Sun–FadedChinos by Ralph Lauren and you’ll be the most crisp-looking guy on campus. What to remember: khakis are more fitted while cargos are baggier and casual. With both, don’t buy them too baggy, otherwise you risk looking sloppy.
Do some research of your own to find out what’s hot for spring and let us know which trends you’ll be rocking!
