Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
In America, most of us hear “St. Patrick’s Day” and think four leaf clovers, dancing leprechauns, pots of gold, and getting pinched if you aren’t wearing green. But the Irish holiday is more than that and pints of beer. It’s a day to celebrate St. Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It also pays tribute to Irish culture and heritage.
Here are a few fun ways you can partake in the celebrations:
1. Get Out
Check to see if there’s a parade or fun run happening in your area. Proceeds almost always benefit a charity, and by attending your donation will bring someone else good luck!

2. Make Dessert
Try a delicious recipe like mint chocolate chip cookie dough bars, green velvet cheesecake cake, or something simple like shamrock cupcakes.

3. Cook Dinner
Go green for dinner too and try green macaroni and cheese or Irish soda bread grilled cheese with pesto. Some roasted cabbage wedges would make a great appetizer!

4. Create Cocktails
When everyone is finished with dinner and dessert, whip up a special Irish drink, such as an Irish Coffee Martini, and Irish Buck, or a delicious and frothy Hot Nutty Irishman.

Rent a few Irish-themed movies, grab some board games, or go out dancing to finish up the evening!
What do you like to do on St. Patrick’s Day? Happy celebrating!
